Solutions Architect and lifelong learner, exploring technology, philosophy, and the world's mountains.

Biography

Solutions Architect by trade, explorer by nature. I work in healthcare IT at PHSA while running multiple racks of servers across Victoria that power this site and a growing collection of personal projects. My professional life is grounded in the engineering of Linux systems, networks, data storage, and electronics, but my curiosity doesn't stop at the terminal.

I spend my time outside of work hiking alpine trails on Vancouver Island, paddling coastal waterways by kayak, and riding the rails across Canada. I'm a lifelong environmentalist and have contributed to efforts documenting old-growth conservation at Fairy Creek and the Walbran Valley. I also mentor young adults finding their footing in IT careers and volunteer computing time to projects like World Community Grid. As of 2026, I'm a licensed Canadian amateur radio operator (call sign VA7ZFS) and a newly licensed motorcyclist.

I believe in governing my own principles, determining my own values, and approaching the world with patience and generosity. I write poetry, photograph landscapes, and think too much about philosophy. This site is where all of those threads come together.
